ABA Therapy Initial Assessment

After your child has been diagnosed with autism, performing an assessment is the next step in determining the level of services, therapy hours, and customized treatment planning to meet their needs. When used as a post-diagnostic tool, there are a variety of assessment methods available depending on your child’s age and developmental challenges. The assessment will evaluate many different areas of developmental, functional, and cognitive skills, and will identify the specific skills that need to be built upon within the structure of the

therapy plan. Once we have analyzed the results of the assessment, our team will move forward to the next stage of treatment planning.

Treatment Planning

After the assessment has identified your child’s skill deficits, emotional responses, and functional challenges, your designated RBT will set benchmarks for measurable goals and desired outcomes. Each child’s individualized treatment plan will be unique and customized to their needs, but will typically include play-based strategies, life skills practice, activities of daily living, gross motor skills development, and social skills time. Each session will look a little bit different, and your RBT will always come prepared with toys, sensory items, planned activities, data collection tools, and everything else needed for a successful session. Through planned pairing activities, the RBT will work to build a special rapport with your child, which serves to build a solid foundation of trust and security. The therapist will also work to recognize your child’s favorite toys and preferences, and will use them throughout treatments to motivate and encourage your child to engage in therapy activities.

Although your child’s treatment plan has specific goals and objectives at the start of therapy sessions, your ABA Therapist will consistently monitor progress, refine goals, adjust prompts and adapt strategies as necessary. When your child’s ABA plan is executed with precision by our team of qualified RBTs, we’ll help your child enhance career opportunities, overcome developmental delays, facilitate behavior modification, and ultimately, lead a full, successful, and purposeful life.

How Is Progress Measured To Ensure Desirable Outcomes?

Data collection is one of the most important components in ABA therapy plan, as it allows us to
effectively measure acquired behavior, analyze, and record progress made toward your child’s
goals and objectives. The collected data is transferred to graphs, for visual comprehension and
simplicity to share with parents regarding behavioral change and skill development.

As negative/maladaptive behavior decreases, and positive behavior is increase and improved, then
it will be generalized: when the individual will be able to apply the acquired behavior in various
setting with various people, and creating positive changes in their lives.

Our teachers and behavior technicians are always invested in your child’s therapy journey and
are able to monitor the direction of progress, We also encourage families to assist in data collection by observing behavioral changes and adaptive progress displayed by their child outside of formal therapy sessions.
